How to Tell Your Love Story: Finding the Words for a Letter, Vows or Ceremony

How to tell your love story is a question I hear in every chapter. A proposal letter, wedding vows and a renewal ceremony all ask you to put years of feeling into a few minutes of words.

I'm Leon, an accredited celebrant and photographer based in Llandudno. Writing those words with couples is at the heart of what I do, and here is how to begin.

Start With Small, True Moments

Forget the big summary. Think of a moment only the two of you would recognise: a joke on a long drive, the first meal you cooked together, a rainy day on the coast. Small details make a story feel real.

Find the Turning Points

Every love story has a few: the day you met, the day you knew, a hard time you came through together. Pick two or three and let the rest support them.

Write as You Speak

Read your words aloud. If a sentence feels stiff, say it the way you would to a friend, and write that down instead.

For a Proposal

With Where Two Bloom, I help you write a love letter and read it aloud before you ask. That moment is not photographed, so it stays yours alone.

For Your Wedding or Elopement

Your ceremony with Elope with Leon is written around your story. You can co-create the script with me, or let me write it and keep it a surprise until the day.

For the Years After

Refreshed vows at a Twilight Ceremonies sunset renewal, or an anniversary letter, carry the story on. The Love Story Registry even sends you a letter about your story on your anniversary.

Told Anywhere

Your words can be spoken in North Wales, at home, in your garden, elsewhere in the UK or abroad.

Your story is already written in the way you live together; it just needs the right words. Read what does a celebrant actually do, then plan your experience and we can find them together.
