The best sunset spots in North Wales face west over the sea or look across water towards the mountains. On a clear summer evening, the whole coast seems to glow, and it is one of the simplest pleasures you can share.
I'm Leon, an accredited celebrant and photographer based in Llandudno. Here are my favourite places to watch the sun go down, spread right across the north.
Porthdinllaen on the Llŷn
A curve of sand, a row of cottages by the water and the sun dropping beyond the headland. It is hard to find a more romantic end to a day.
Criccieth
The castle on its headland catches the last light beautifully, with Tremadog Bay stretching out beyond.
Llanddwyn Island
Across the water, the mountains of Eryri turn pink as the sun sets behind you. Check the tide before you walk out.
The West Shore, Llandudno
Close to home for me, the West Shore looks across the Conwy estuary towards Anglesey and Puffin Island, with long, quiet sand at low tide.
Talacre and the Point of Ayr
In the north-east, the old lighthouse on the beach at Talacre makes a striking silhouette against an evening sky.
Moel Famau
For a sunset from the hills, the top of the Clwydian Range looks out across the Vale of Clwyd. Bring a torch for the walk down.
Sunsets Through Every Chapter
A sunset proposal with Where Two Bloom, an evening elopement with Elope with Leon, or a summer vow renewal with Twilight Ceremonies can all happen in this light. You can also choose anywhere: home, your garden, elsewhere in the UK or abroad.
Find a west-facing spot, sit close and let the sky do the talking. Read why North Wales for your love story, then plan your experience for an evening you will both remember.
